Not Your Father's CharityI was traveling this past week, speaking about Funds2Orgs and shoe drives, and I noticed the buds on the trees.  For a moment, it took me by surprise.  I was walking down a street and nature was in bloom again – whites, pinks, reds and greens. We endured such a long winter, one that I don’t remember being this bad since I was a kid and here we are again with trees and flowers in bloom. It was a wonderful feeling and one of those moments when you realize you are alive and the world is an amazing place.

I wake up every morning and I feel privileged that I get to do the work I do with my fundraisers.  I have been working in the shoe business, as many of you know, since I was fifteen years old.  I have been living my passion ever since I was a young boy.  Discovering what I was good at early has been a gift to me, and because of it, I am always looking for opportunities to help others help themselves as well.  There are few things better in life than being passionate about the work you do everyday and being aware that you are also changing the lives of people you may never meet.

I meet thousands of people each year and I know people are looking to make an impact in their community and the world.   In my work, I hear people involved with non-profits, churches and schools tell me they’re looking to do more, but they continue to go from fundraiser to fundraiser.  We need to invest in them the way we do with for-profit companies.  Funds2Orgs is one of the ways I live my passion everyday.

Not Your Father's CharityWith all of the people I have met, I have not met many who enjoy fundraising.  Everyone realizes it is necessary to do, but for a variety of reasons, I have found that people don’t typically enjoy it.  I have thought about this and witFunds2Orgs, I have been able to provide individuals and charitable organizations with a proven way of implementing shoe drive fundraisers to make money, increase their capacity and make an impact in the world.  And, what has developed is an incredible organization focusing on helping people do church fundraisers, nonprofit fundraisers, school fundraiser, etc.

Funds2Orgs partners with individuals and organizations – for free, using their branding, to help create shoe fundraising drives that people actually want to do and participate in doing.  The approach is incredibly simple:  plan the dates and locations for the shoe drive; we will help you promote and encourage people to donate their gently used shoes so you can then coordinate with us when the drive is completed to pick them up; and, finally, when we receive the shoes, we will pay you the funds from the fundraising of the shoes.  Not only do you have an easy fundraiser, but you also help people in other parts of the world to create their own microbusinesses.

The impact we are making with our partners is in four areas: 1) fundraising for the charities; 2) employing people in the United States; 3) globally teaching people how to fish versus giving them the fish; and, 4) keeping shoes out of landfills.s with individuals and organizations – for free, using their branding, to help create shoe fundraising drives that people actually want to do and participate in doing.

Here is what people who have joined us are saying:  “I am personally getting more out of this project then I ever imagined…Our players are also getting involved and understanding the true meaning behind helping others.”  “The shoe drive has opened so many doors for our organization…The shoe drive has been so well received by people that normally would say – “we only donate locally”.  It has opened the eyes of company owners large and small – Walmart to Chiropractor’s offices to health clubs to schools – to show them that it only takes so little to make a huge difference” in developing nations.

Everyone can make a difference in this world – no matter their circumstance.  Every life lived is unique and each one of us has the power just by being ourselves to make an impact in the life of another person.  It does not have to be with grand gestures.  It can be in small ways as simple as a smile, to donating shoes, creating your own shoe fundraising drive, to giving money or volunteering.

Look down at your feet right now.  If you are wearing shoes, sneakers, sandals or flip flops – at this very second, there is someone else in the world who can move themselves out of poverty by selling those shoes.  Realize that.  I invite you to check out Funds2Orgs to see how you can make a difference starting with the shoes on your feet.
